Malcolm Litten - Consultant in Dyslexia and Assistive Technology
Wednesday 21 September at 8pm
a talk by Cathy Evans
This meeting will take place at Christ Church Purley, Brighton Road, Purley, CR8 2BN.
Our speaker, Cathy Evans, is a qualified Specialist Teacher and Assessor, holding an Assessment Practising Certificate, and is a member of PATOSS (the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties).
Cathy provides assessments for Exam Access Arrangements, for schools as well as private commissions. She has taught and assessed numerous dyslexic students during the past twelve years and also helps raise awareness of the barriers facing these learners.
The exam process is the final barrier for many learners, and Cathy feels that providing them and their parents with information about access to 'reasonable adjustments' is an important aspect of her support.
During her talk, Cathy will outline what is meant by Exam Access Arrangements - why they exist and who would be entitled to them. Every year there are changes in the regulations for access arrangements and Cathy will talk about what will apply for those taking public exams over this coming year - for A' Level, GCSE, KS2 - as well as about DSA. She will also explain the process and difficulties parents may encounter.
There will be an opportunity for questions during the session. Parents, students and teachers are welcome to the meeting.
Open meetings are free to CDA members; visitors are asked to make a donation. There's no need to book for this meeting.
